Learn about broiler chicken breeds

Although the topic is easy and seems simple, I mean, anyone can ask himself what will he benefit from knowing the types and breeds of broiler chicken?

Information about broiler chicken breeds
Broiler chicken breeds

The simple answer is that there is a difference between the breeds, and each breed has its own system at the time of breeding, lighting programs, feed conversion treatments, average weights at the end of the cycle, and the rate of growth. Through the catalog of the mothers’ company, or to the one who brings the chicks from him, I get it, and therefore from the beginning of the cycle, I can know what are the most suitable temperatures for this breed, what is the most appropriate program for lighting, transfer transactions, and so on.
There are two types of broiler chickens, including white feathers, which we call egg chicks, and one of its advantages is that it is fast growing, and the cycle length can reach from 35 to 37 days, depending on the condition of the flock and growth rates, but this type is very sensitive to cold, especially infection with mycoplasma, and the more the chickens of these eggs grow. The chance of catching a cold is high, so there must be an interest in ventilation throughout the cycle, especially as the chicks get older.
Egg chicks cannot tolerate high temperatures, so the chance of them getting global warming is high.

types of broiler chickens

1- Arbor Acres

is one of the oldest and most respected names in the field of breeding chicken meat, including an advanced breed Arbor Acres plus that focuses on meeting the present and future needs of the poultry industry. At 42 days of age, the live body weight reaches 2637gm, and the Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) reaches 1:1.765.

2- The avian

which is well-known here in Egypt is avian 48, and this breed distinguishes it from the fact that it does not need high temperatures during incubation, meaning that it is known to breeders that the incubation temperature in the first period, meaning the first day, is 34 to 35 degrees, and this may be suitable for many breeds, but the avian loves temperatures Moderate means that it is possible to start it with 33, and sometimes 32, but the most appropriate is 33. I find the chicks spread out, spread out, and spread out like the best. In the first and the last, the behavior of the chicks is what determines whether the temperature is appropriate or not.

3- The Hubbard breed

. It is known about this breed that the chick itself will be large in size from the first day, and it will start to grow as a skeleton, meat and feathers from the first day. There will be a noticeable change in the shape of the chick and its feathers. It shows any noticeable change in growth, but after 15 to 20 days, I find a significant change in growth, noticeable to the extent that some breeders suspect that these chicks are a narration and a prank from the company, but as soon as he contacts the authority responsible for the chicks, they understand this issue.

4- Cup chicken

This cup is a breed that is distinguished by that it throws average abnormal weights, especially if it applies its own lighting program, which is in the catalog, and it can reach 6 hours of darkness at the end of the cycle and the last week of it.

6- Luhman

5- The Ross chicken

, and I believe that this strain tolerates heat greatly, and therefore is suitable for breeding in open wards during the summer and heat waves.

It will be less cold, and it will resist high temperatures and different weather conditions, and it will be more expensive in price per kilo than white chicken, because it combines the taste of local chicken and reaches the weight of egg chicks, but the problem is that this type needs a longer fattening period that can reach 60 days or more, such as:

1- The red chevre.
2- Isa brown.

3- Sasso chickens

The Sasso chicks are the most famous in Egypt and they have many colors. There are two types of breeders who raise the Sasso chicks. They incubate and raise them from the age of one day up to 15 to 20 days. They are marketed at this age to clinics and parents. This could be a very good project, but his problem is in marketing it, especially if I have I raised large numbers of chickens, and by the way, these chickens have a great chance of being infected with coccidiosis and clostridia, and the infection often recurs during the cycle. It is preferable to make a program every week or 10 days to prevent them with the length of the cycle.

Thank you, and I hope you like the topic. I am waiting for your comments. The next topic, we will talk about how to purify the farm and prepare it to receive a new flock.
